Pointers and Kids

I’m a busy working mom with three children ranging in age from 7 to 12. Until we got our Pointer, it was always hard for me to keep the kids entertained and physically active. Other than soccer and the occasional game of softball in the back yard with some of the neighborhood kids, their main form of entertainment used to be playing video games and watching TV. It wasn’t a very active or healthy lifestyle.

Fortunately, the arrival of our Pointer changed everything pretty quickly. Our dog has even put an end to their blossoming video game obsession. Sure, they still like to play them, but video games don’t occupy all their free time anymore. Instead, they often go out in the yard and play with the dog.

He has enough energy to wear out all three of my children. And it’s plain to see that he enjoys doing it, too. The kids and the dog all run around the yard like banshees, with the kids throwing our Frisbee® back and forth while the dog tries to intercept it. The kids even draw straws to decide which one will take our Pointer on the long walks he enjoys so much.

The way my children love spending time with our dog saves me a lot of grief looking after them and trying to keep them entertained. It also keeps all of them – the kids and the dog – in great physical condition. It sure beats having my kids playing video games for hours on end!
