Feeding Your Pointer

I’ve had lots of dogs during my life, and I’m here to tell you, there’s not many things you can do for your dog that are more important than feeding him healthy, wholesome, nutritious food. Balanced, complete nutrition is an essential requirement for your Pointer to enjoy an active, healthy life.

You can help your Pointer avoid a number of health conditions by feeding him high quality food. For example, some dog foods contain ingredients that can give your dog diarrhea or constipation, cause him to vomit excessively, or give him allergic reactions leading to skin and coat problems like itching, flaky skin or bald patches.

Unfortunately, finding the right food can get a bit confusing. You see, many dog foods sold at the supermarket say they’re "nutritionally complete" or "scientifically formulated." Those promises might be true, technically speaking, but too many grocery store dog foods fulfill those promises by being chock full of artificial additives, unpronounceable chemicals and artificial dyes to give them color. Many even have artificial flavor added in, for goodness’ sake! All those chemicals just can’t be good for your Pointer.

Instead of feeding your Pointer a dog food that requires a chemist to understand what’s in it, try feeding him a natural dog food. It should list real beef, poultry or lamb as the first ingredient, and it won’t be loaded down with artificial, manmade chemicals. In fact, there won’t be anything unnatural – or unhealthy – in a high quality natural dog food. Your dog will be healthier, he’ll be happier, he’ll be more active, and he’ll probably live longer. Pointers are wonderful dogs, and yours deserves the best.
